The Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) seeks a full-time 9-month, tenure track faculty member in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy(OTD) Program. Within this role, opportunities exist for maintaining some clinical practice.
Effective Date: August 1, 2026 or later depending upon availability of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities:
Teach and advise students within the OTD Program
Engage in research with regular scholarly dissemination
Engage in department, college, university service and/or professional service
Contribute to OT Department outcome assessment, OTD Program accreditation activities, curriculum and other continuous quality improvement initiatives
Engage in ongoing professional development in andragogy and clinical occupational therapist skills as related to teaching assignments
Requirements
Required qualications:
Terminal academic degree (e.g., PhD, EdD)
Occupational Therapy degree
Tennessee licensed or eligible
American Occupational Therapy Association member
3+ years full-time clinical experience
Expertise for lead teaching ofresearch methodologies and evidenced-based practice
additional program content areas related to clinical expertise
additional program content areas related to evolving curricular need(s)
Preferred qualications:
Experience in lead teaching at the doctoral level
Experience in research with peer-reviewed product dissemination
Service and leadership in the occupational therapy profession
Orthopedic clinical expertise with Certified Hand Therapist (CMT), Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT), or other specialty certication
Clinical experience in multiple healthcare settings (e.g., outpatient, acute care, home health, skilled nursing, inpatient rehab)
Clinical experience with management of patients with signicant multi-system involvement
